Paper Covers Rock has been bringing writers and readers together on Salt Spring Island since 2021.

We've hosted 30+ authors in workshops, readings, and conversations — and we're just getting started.

Here’s what’s new:

Reading Retreats — Small groups will read a Canadian novel aloud together over the course of a day or two, with breaks for movement, tea, and lunch, in some of the most beautiful spaces on the island. Starting September 2026.

Writer-in-Residence — Week-long writing residencies that conclude with a community reading, event, or workshop. Applications for winter 2026 and spring 2027 writer-in-residence are open.

Silent Book Club — The last Sunday of every month, we gather to read together in comfortable silence. Bring whatever you're reading! Register for free.
